The first cronut I tucked into is known as the zebra. On the plus side, the zebra cronut from Dum Dum donuts tastes nice n' chocolatey. It's topped with milk and white chocolate flakes. On the down side, the zebra crodough is a bit too sweet. It's dusted with too much sugar in my opinion, and the dough/pastry doesn't have a moorish, memorable taste.
Next I tried a mini
lemon doughnut from Dum Dum. The dough was a bit dry. It lacked flavour and all in all it was just sugary sweet.
The dum dum strawberry iced ring doughnut was more of the same. Dry and sugary sweet.
Things began to look up once I reached for the strawberries and creme cronut. It really is the Dum Dum donuts showpiece. The strawberries and creme crodough is the prettiest visually and more importantly. The best tasting of the bunch. The pastry/dough actually has flavour. It's buttery. Not dry or heavy. The cream on top is deliciously..creamy. There's a good amount of jam in the center and a fresh strawberry too.
The apple pie and strawberry cheesecake donuts taste pretty similar to one another and are quite nice, but nothing I'd develop a craving for.
The other doughnuts were..meh. So I'll just skip to the only other dum dum pastries that I recommend.
The creme brulee wins points for it's uniqueness. It has a thick crunchy outer glaze and tasty cream in the center. It's worth trying if you're after something different. However the must try award goes to the strawberries and cream cronut.
The Peter Andre yum yum Dum Dum really is yum yum! The thon streaks of white and chocolate icing drizzled on top are just the right amount to stop the yum yum dum dum from tasting too sweet. The pastry is just how a good yum yum is supposed to be and theres a welcome addition of a creamy filling waiting for you in the center.
I'd definately return to Dum Dum donutterie for some more yum yum dum dums and strawberries and cream cro's.
