Liberty Cheesesteak Company Philly Cheese Steak Review

On a recent trip to Old Spitalfields market I tried out a Philly Cheese Steak for the first time. The Liberty Cheese Steak company can be found serving from their food truck at Old Spitalfields market.

We were at Old Spitalfields Market to check out the Liberty Cheesesteak company Philly Cheese Steak - the only London food joint that currently seem to serve up this American delight. I had seen a gorgeous looking photo of their cheesesteak online, however it was clearly a sad case of expectation versus reality - as you can see from the picture below.

Approaching the Liberty Cheesesteak company food truck I was
greeted American style by a friendly ex-pat. He kindly suggested we get a whole Philly cheese steak and split it, as it would save us 2 quid. A whole cheese steak costs £8 while half a cheese steak is £5

We ordered our fave fizzy drink of root beer and sat on a stool. The cheese steak was just ok in mine and hubbys opinion. The bread was super soft, but the crispy onions went unnoticed. I really liked the wiz sauce, it's a cheesy American sauce done right. I felt that there was enough cheese and steak, however J - my husband felt there wasn't quite enough steak.

The friendly server said that they made their own bread and wiz sauce. No wonder it tasted so good. The steak, however could have been a bit more flavoursome. We left feeling that Philly Cheese Steak was a little over hyped.

I doubt I would go back just for another Philly Cheese steak, especially with the variety of food choices available at Old Spitalfields market.
