Paul's Patisserie Review With Photos Of My Purchases

One lazy Sunday I found myself at Paul's Patisserie after much procrastinating.

I visited the South East London branch of Paul's Patisserie where I received good service - worth a mention because good service always makes for a more enjoyable experience. I'm pretty sure you'll agree! Paul's Patisserie was clean, with indoor and outdoor seating.

Paul's Patisserie looks old school. As if pulled from 1889 - The year in which it was originally founded. There were some brownie samples on the counter, which I didn't try but my son enjoyed his, however he tends to be quite easy to please!

Based off of this visit, I find Paul's patisserie pretty basic if I'm honest. Nothing really eye catching on display. They sell fresh bread, simple savoury options like cheese toasties and a few sweet treats. I only ended up purchasing a giant vanilla macaron and a coffee cream eclair.

I didn't expect to be wowed by the giant macaron, but thankfully it exceeded my expectations! The macaron is wonderfully chewy and filled with the softest, butteriest vanilla cream. It's neither too sweet nor too savoury plus surprisingly quite filling! I like it so much I would definately buy one again. Price at time of purchase was £3.15

The coffee cream eclair is pleasant but not very memorable. Paul's coffee cream eclair has the traditional hard icing on top, with the perfect hint of coffee. The filling is a bit jelly like. It's hard to work out whether or not it's a chocolate filling as it's quite bland to the taste. The eclair was priced at £2.85

Paul's patisserie is a pretty expensive bakery, with 25 London locations, all in fairly decent areas. I would probably pop in for another yummy giant macaron if I'm near a Paul's Patisserie in future.
