CheeMc London Review - Korean Fried Chicken and Asian Trap Music

I love finding good London food spots. CheeMc is a hidden gem in South London that just so happens to be one of those special food joints that I'm all too excited to talk about!

I wasn't sure exactly how good the food at CheeMc was going to be. It's in the hood, and it's quite an unknown restaurant.

Well well well..CheeMc
more than lived up to my expectations for serving up one of - if not THE best Korean Fried chicken in London!

I'm not easily pleased, and the rather high price of the korean fried chicken at CheeMc made me even more sceptical about what to expect.

We had trekked down Walworth road on a bitterly cold, wet day. All spring and summer memories now distant. Arriving at CheeMc, I already knew what I wanted to order.

We went for half and half chicken. With the half and half chicken at CheeMc you choose two different fried chicken options for £18.50.

There's a good selection of fried chicken options on the menu at CheeMc. I'm already salivating about going back to CheeMc to try some more! Knowing me, I'll probably end up getting the same dishes that I got on my first visit. I mean, when you find something good. It's best to hold on to it!

After showing pictures to my boo of what to expect, we were in agreement about ordering the CheeMc honey butter chicken and sweet chilli wings. I'm not sure if the honey butter chicken was on the menu at CheeMc as I didn't see it listed. Maybe it was under a different name. So do ask for it. My husband and I both highly recommend it!

The honey butter chicken at CheeMc is sublime! A plentiful dish of tender chicken wings, coated in the most interesting looking. Powdery, pale yellow seasoning. With fresh green, finely chopped herbs. I really can't sing it's praises enough! It's a unique - but welcome twist on fried chicken wings.

The honey butter chicken wings at CheeMc arrived hot, and the batter of CheeMc fried chicken is just superb from my experience. Crispy, buttery batter to rival all batters! CheeMc honey butter chicken is well coated in a unique, pale yellow powder, with finely chopped green herbs. You instantly smell a strong parmesan cheese fragrance, which gives it a creamy, cheesy- sweet taste. Not too sweet. Just right.

Both plates of chicken come surrounded by a little fresh lettuce, and a small portion of coleslaw. The CheeMc sweet chilli korean fried wings came next, accompanied by a portion of interesting looking chips.

The korean sweet chilli chicken wings at CheeMc are coated in the most perfect batter, and delicious sweet chilli sauce, that's ever so slightly sour, and ever so slightly spicy. I've tried quite a few sweet chilli fried chicken wings, and I have to say, CheeMc do the best I've had thus far!

The chicken at CheeMc arrives hot, and the pieces of chicken are beautifully tender. The batter is light, crisp and buttery without being oily.

Our CheeMc order also came with a side of pickled radish, which was welcome. It's mildly sweet, a little sour and refreshing.

During our meal we enjoyed hearing Korean trap music for the first time. Holla!
CheeMc Seasoned Chips - City Food Blog
CheeMc Seasoned Chips
The chips at CheeMc cost £4.00 and are a gem. They arrived nice and hot, with a light crispy outer and soft fluffy center. How chips are supposed to be. What makes the chips at CheeMc so interesting, is the pale yellow powder that they come heavily coated in. It's seemingly identical to that of the honey butter chicken and I love it. It gives the chips a creamy, cheesy and mildly sweet taste. Yum!
